Karimah Hassan
Art won't change the world. People will. But its a good place to start.
Karimah Hassan is a British-Welsh artist of Bangladeshi descent whose work explores identity, community, and the power of self-expression. Working across painting, performance, and digital media, she creates bold, gestural portraits that capture the energy and emotions of her subjects. Her practice is deeply rooted in storytelling, using colour and movement to visualize personal narratives and collective experiences.
Hassan's artistic journey is shaped by her background in architecture, which informs her sense of composition and space. However, she was drawn to the immediacy and rawness of painting, leading her to develop a dynamic, expressive style. Her large-scale works often feature figures in flux, their forms emerging through fluid, layered brushstrokes.
Hassan’s work has been exhibited internationally, from London to New York, and has been featured in collaborations with major brands such as Burberry, Selfridges and Nike. Whether through live painting performances or immersive installations, her art celebrates vulnerability, identity, and the beauty of human connection.
Her latest solo exhibition at Rosewood London, in collaboration with Frieze 2024, marks a pivotal expansion of her practice. Her upcoming series 'Soleil,' debuting in Ibiza 2025, furthers her exploration of light, heritage, and transformative spatial experiences.
