Zoë Irons
Ceramist
Zoë Irons is a ceramic artist working in London from The Clay Garden ceramics studio. Zoë studied art at City & Guilds of London Art School and then embarked on a Textile Design degree at London’s Central Saint Martins. Born on Lantau Island in Hong Kong and raised on the Isle of Wight in Southern England, her work is deeply inspired by the sea and all it surrounds - eroded rock formations, delicate coral structures, the organic shapes of flotsam carried by the tides and island life.
Zoë told us: “My time at Central Saint Martins was cut short due to chronic illness. I went through a bit of a scary time, where I had to strip away pretty much everything that I knew, and start again. I found solace in ceramics, and discovered the therapeutic nature of working with clay. My most recent body of work: ‘I Found Myself Washed Up on the Shore’, documents that rebuilding.”
